‘The Strauss’ in detail. A brief introduction to Denim 101. The reason we named this jacket ‘The Strauss’ was because the design was first created in 1880 by Levi Strauss & Co. It was officially named the ‘Type 1’ jacket and featured some unique structural details: 1. A cinch back that was used to adjust the back of the jacket to fit the person wearing it. 2. One (open) utility chest pocket. 3. The knife pleats (little stitchings running along the jacket torso) used to make the jacket more aerodynamic. With our design we decided to mix up some unique denim colours, customize the cinch back, as well as modernize the utility pocket.
